About

 WHAT IS AMECA?

The Africa and Middle East Congress on Addiction (AMECA) is a global, non for profit, non-government organization established to promote training and developmental opportunities to scientists and professionals in the field of addiction and related mental health problems.

AMECA provides venues and resources to gather researchers and clinicians from multiple fields including medicine, psychology, public health, and related fields. The focus of AMECA is on Africa and the Middle East regions.

WHY AMECA?

There is growing recognition of the heavy toll addictive disorders and related mental heath problems have in many regions of the world.

The impact of these problems is particularly pronounced in middle- and low-income countries and is complicated by socioeconomic conditions, psychosocial turbulences, and low access to health care.

The AMECA congress provides access to the latest scientific evidence on prevention and treatment in Africa and the Middle East. It also offers training and networking opportunities for young scientists and professionals.

AMECA VISION

A vibrant scientific and clinical community in the field of addiction and mental health that is effective in promoting and implementing high quality, evidence based prevention and treatment program in Africa and the Middle East

AMECA MISSION

To coordinate capacity for research on addiction and related mental health disorders in Africa and the Middle East. AMECA also provides a venue to gather researchers and clinicians from multiple fields including medicine, psychology, public health, and related fields.
