Studies Seeking Participants

Stress, Opioids, Nicotine Dependence, & Relapse (SONAR)

What is the purpose of the study?

The purpose of this research is to understand how smokers’ responses to naltrexone and stress relate to smoking, smoking cessation, and relapse.

How often are the clinic visits?

If you are a smoker, we expect that you will be in this research study for a total of up to around 18-20 hours over the course of about 4 months or less, though it is possible that the researcher will ask you to schedule follow-up visits over the course of approximately 1 year. This research includes a brief daily diary (~1 minute daily) in addition to up to 7 in-person meetings: 1 medical screening meeting (~3 hrs total); 2 pre-performance meetings (~1 hr each); 2 performance sessions (~4 hrs each); and 2 follow-up meetings (~1 hr each).

If you are a non-smoker, we expect that you will be in this research study for a total of up to around 13-25 hours over the course of about 1-2 months. This research includes a brief daily diary (~1 minute daily) in addition to up to 5 meetings: 1 medical screening meeting (~3 hrs total); 2 pre-performance meetings (~1 hr each); and 2 performance sessions (~4 hrs each).
